Iron Chef Sakai to help raise funds at Chefs du Jour

Organizers of the annual Easter Seals Hawaii Chefs du Jour hope the appearance of "Iron Chef" Hiroyuki Sakai at this year's fundraiser will help raise $200,000 for the charity, topping last year's net sales of $192,000.

The Chefs de Jour event takes place on Saturday, June 21, in Tamarind Park.

Chefs du Jour — featuring food and wine tastings, live music and a silent auction — will boast signature dishes from participating chefs and locally grown products from members of the Hawaii State Department of Agriculture's Hawaii Seals of Quality and Buy Fresh, Buy Local programs.

Chef Sakai, dubbed "King of Iron Chefs," owns La Rochelle in Tokyo and rose to fame after repeatedly winning televised Iron Chef competitions free instant credit score estimator.

He will be joined by chef Josiah Citrin, chef and owner of the Melisse Restaurant and formerly one of Food and Wine Magazine's "Top Ten New Chefs;" and En-Ming Hsu, president of Team USA for the2007 Pastry World Cup Competition.

Local chefs at the event will be: Alan Wong, Alan Wong's Restaurant; Roy Yamaguchi, Roy's; Lindsey Ozawa and Toshiyuki Sasajima, Nobu Waikiki; Hiroshi Fukui, Hiroshi Eurasian Tapas; Donato Loperfido and Philippe Padovani, Elua Restaurant; Alan Takasaki, Le Bistro; and Henry Adaniya, Hank's Haute Dogs and former owner of Trio restaurant in Chicago.
