Amazon.com to open another Arizona fulfillment center

Amazon.com Inc. said it will open a new fulfillment center in Goodyear, Arizona, outside of Phoenix, in the third quarter of 2008.

The 500,000-square-foot center will create 600 full-time jobs and an additional 700 temporary jobs during the 2008 holiday season, according to the Seattle-based online retailer (NASDAQ: AMZN).

Amazon already operates another Arizona fulfillment center; its first opened in Phoenix last year.

"As we continue to expand selection for customers across all product categories, we’re excited to be opening a new facility in Goodyear to allow us to serve customers more quickly and efficiently," said Mike McKenna, vice president, Amazon fulfillment services, in a statement online payday loan.
